LODI ACCESS CENTER

LODI ACCESS CENTER

The Lodi Access Center was previously an initiative of Inner City Action, a local ministry in Lodi, California. In October of 2024 the City of Lodi abruptly ended their relationship with Inner City Action, and transferred the care of the Lodi Access Center to Outreach Ministries International. With mixed emotions about the change from the local community, Outreach Ministries International reached out to Nectarine to design a logo to act as a bridge between the three organizations. By building a brand that gave homage to both the city and Inner City Action, OMI hoped to build trust with residents and honor those who have cared for the center prior.

The Lodi Access Center offers essential emergency shelter services for Lodi residents experiencing homelessness. Here, you’ll find practical support designed to meet immediate needs and help you move off the streets toward a more stable, fulfilling life. Our team understands the realities of homelessness and is focused on offering clear, actionable steps that make a real difference. We’re here to connect and provide the resources to help you regain stability and build a better future.

For Lodi Access Center, our design approach centered on bridging multiple identities—connecting the city of Lodi, InnerCity Action, and the visual style of Outreach Ministries International. The heart element creates a meaningful link to InnerCity Action's established branding, while the protective roof motif communicates the shelter services at the core of their mission. Ingeniously woven into the design is "LODI" itself—the L forms the left side of the house, the O appears as the heart, the D creates a sideways door, and the I completes the right side. This door imagery intentionally reinforces their slogan: "an open door to change." The result is a cohesive visual identity that honors all three organizations while establishing the center as its own entity with a clear, purposeful presence in the community.

A hidden LODI is embedded in the building’s design, paying homage to the city of Lodi:

L forms the left side of the house.

O is the heart.

D is the door, turned sideways.

I is the right side of the house.

The door imagery is representative of LAC’s slogan “an open door to change”

The heart  is a nod to the heart in InnerCity Action’s logo.

The roof symbolizes the emergency shelter services provided by the center.

Aside from a full brand package, Nectarine delivered a 3 page website and handouts to share with Lodi residents experiencing homelessness.
